release_alert Low Stock - 1 available
Lithops – Rare Living Stone Giants from Private Collection
Lithops, native to the arid regions of southern Africa, are astonishing succulents that mimic pebbles to avoid being eaten in the wild. This extraordinary offering includes three large specimens, each with no fewer than eight mature heads, sourced from the boss’ private collection—a genuine botanical treasure for the enthusiast or collector.
Distinctive Features
- Stone-like Camouflage: Each plant has a remarkable pebble-like appearance, making it almost indistinguishable from surrounding rocks in its natural habitat.
- Multiple Mature Heads: These rare pots contain no less than eight well-established heads, displaying a rich tapestry of patterns and tones.
- Seasonal Blooms: In late summer or autumn, Lithops produce daisy-like flowers that emerge dramatically from the centre slit.
Care Tips
- Light: Bright, indirect sunlight is ideal—avoid intense midday rays, especially behind glass.
- Water: Extremely low water needs. Water sparingly during active growth, and withhold entirely in dormancy.
- Humidity: Thrives in dry environments; avoid excess humidity to prevent rot.
- Media: Use a gritty, mineral-rich cactus mix with excellent drainage.
- Temperature: Prefers 18–25°C during growth, tolerates cooler periods when dry.
- Fertiliser: Feed lightly with diluted cactus fertiliser once during the growing season.
- Repotting: Rarely needed; only repot when overcrowded, and do so in early spring.
Additional Notes
- Allow old leaves to wither naturally as new heads develop—do not remove manually.
- Highly sought-after by collectors due to their longevity, compact size, and curious appearance.
- Non-toxic to pets, though best kept out of reach due to their small size and fragility.
This exceptional Lithops trio is more than a plant—it's a living geological illusion and a centrepiece for any serious succulent collection. With their long-lived nature and mesmerising growth habits, these plants promise both fascination and low-maintenance beauty.
