Ludisia discolor, commonly referred to as the jewel orchid, is a terrestrial orchid species native to Southeast Asia, thriving in humid forest floors. Noted for its dark velvety leaves and subtle white to pale pink flower spikes, this plant is highly favoured for its foliage rather than its blooms.

Velvet foliage: Deep maroon to blackish-green leaves with fine coppery pinstripes and a satiny texture.
Compact flower spikes: Produces delicate white flowers with yellow centres on upright stems during late summer to early autumn.
Low, creeping habit: Spreads via short rhizomes, forming attractive clumps ideal for decorative containers.

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun to prevent leaf scorch.
Water: Keep soil consistently moist but never soggy; reduce watering slightly in winter.
Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity; mist regularly or use a humidity tray.

Treatment & Delay: These orders require biosecurity treatment and certification, which is completed each Friday. Please allow an additional 1–2 weeks for processing.
Plant Health Certification (PHAC) Fees
$20 fee applies to WA orders.
$10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders.
