The cristate form (Mammillaria bocasana f. cristata), often called “Brain Cactus,” produces dense, twisting crests that form tight, sculptural clumps over time. Plants can reach 15–20 cm across in 5–10 years under good culture. This plant will be sent bare-rooted (without soil) for safe shipping.

Care

Light: Bright light to full sun to keep growth compact and spines dense.
Water: Water thoroughly in warmer months, allowing soil to dry between waterings; water sparingly in winter.
Temperature: Prefers warm, dry conditions; protect from frost.
Media: Free-draining cactus mix to prevent rot.
Fertiliser: Apply low-nitrogen cactus fertiliser during active growth for best form.

Biosecurity States (WA, NT, TAS): These orders require mandatory biosecurity treatment (PHC) and follow a specific weekly schedule:

Cut-off: Orders must be placed by Thursday 11:59 PM AEST.
Dispatch Day: Orders are processed over the weekend and dispatched on Tuesday.

Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:

$20 fee applies to WA orders.
$10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders. This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping costat checkout.
