Parodia haselbergii, commonly referred to as the Scarlet Ball Cactus, originates from the rocky slopes of southern Brazil. This small, globular cactus is popular among collectors for its vibrant red blooms and neatly arranged spines.
Distinctive Features
- Spines: Short, golden to white spines densely arranged, giving a tidy appearance.
- Flowers: Bright scarlet-red flowers appear atop the cactus, usually blooming in spring or early summer.
- Growth Habit: Compact, spherical shape, typically growing to only about 15 cm in height and width.
Care Notes
- Light: Prefers bright sunlight; provide partial shade during intense midday sun.
- Water: Water moderately during growth; allow soil to dry out completely between watering sessions and limit water in winter.
