Masdevallia Cusco Gold 'Beenak'

Masdevallia Cusco Gold 'Beenak' is a named clone of the hybrid Masdevallia Cusco Gold, which traces part of its ancestry to high-elevation Andean species such as Masdevallia veitchiana. These parent species are typically found in the cloud forests of Peru, thriving in cool temperatures and high humidity. 'Beenak' produces a single large flower per inflorescence, with fused sepals forming a broad triangular display, often coloured in rich golden-orange tones with varying degrees of spotting or suffusion depending on growing conditions.

Care Tips:

• Light: Requires bright, filtered light. Protect from direct sun exposure.
• Water: Keep constantly moist using pure water. Avoid drying out or overwatering.
• Humidity: High humidity above 70% is essential, especially in warmer conditions.
• Media: Fine-grade bark or sphagnum moss with good drainage. Maintain airflow around roots.
• Temperature: Cool to intermediate range, ideally 10–22 °C. Sensitive to prolonged heat.
• Fertiliser: Use diluted orchid fertiliser every 2–3 weeks during growth. Flush occasionally to prevent salt accumulation.
• Repotting: Repot annually or when media deteriorates. Best done post-flowering.
