Neoregelia Tiny Tot Fireball 'Lyda's Pride'
check_circle In Stock
Neoregelia Fireball ‘Lyda’s Pride’ is a compact bromeliad cultivar, selected for its distinct foliage pattern and colouration. Like its parent, it traces its ancestry to Neoregelia species native to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, where bromeliads grow epiphytically in warm, humid canopy environments. This cultivar retains the easy-care nature and clustering growth habit that have made the ‘Fireball’ group popular in cultivation.
The plant matures quickly and produces numerous offsets from the base, forming dense clusters over time. Each rosette flowers only once before producing pups, ensuring the display renews itself continuously. Its central water-holding cup should be kept filled with fresh water and flushed regularly to prevent stagnation. Foliage colouration is most pronounced under bright, filtered light, with seasonal changes influencing tone and pattern.
‘Lyda’s Pride’ adapts well to pots, shallow bowls, and mounted arrangements. It can be used as a specimen plant or massed for a striking groundcover effect in frost-free climates. Indoors, it thrives in bright positions with consistent moisture, and its compact size makes it ideal for mixed plantings or as an accent in vertical gardens.
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, filtered light; stronger light enhances foliage colour and pattern.
- Water: Keep the central cup filled with fresh water; flush regularly.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but tolerates typical indoor levels.
- Media: Use a free-draining bromeliad mix or mount with sphagnum moss.
- Fertiliser: Apply very dilute liquid fertiliser into the cup or to the roots during active growth.
- Temperature: Best grown between 15–28 °C; protect from frost.
- Repotting: Separate and pot offsets when they are one-third to half the size of the parent rosette.
