Neoregelia pauciflora is a small bromeliad species native to Brazil, where it grows epiphytically in the Atlantic Forest. The species name means “few-flowered,” referring to its relatively small floral display compared to other Neoregelia, although it still produces the characteristic water-holding rosette structure of the genus. Its natural habitat consists of warm, humid environments with dappled light filtered through the forest canopy.
Adapted to life on tree branches, N. pauciflora collects water and organic debris in its central tank, supporting both its own growth and small invertebrate life in the wild. Each rosette flowers only once before producing offsets, which will eventually replace the parent plant. Its small size, tidy growth habit, and tolerance for a range of indoor conditions have made it a desirable species for collections where space is limited.
In cultivation, Neoregelia pauciflora is suitable for mounting on driftwood or cork, as well as growing in shallow pots with a free-draining mix. It responds well to good light levels, which help maintain strong leaf colour and form. Regular flushing of the central cup prevents stagnation and keeps the plant healthy, while moderate feeding supports steady growth and pup production.
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, filtered light; stronger light maintains compact growth and good colour.
- Water: Keep the central cup filled with fresh water; flush regularly to prevent stagnation.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts to average indoor conditions.
- Media: Use a free-draining bromeliad mix or mount with sphagnum moss.
- Fertiliser: Apply very dilute liquid fertiliser to the cup or roots during active growth.
- Temperature: Best between 15–28 °C; protect from frost.
- Repotting: Remove and pot offsets when they reach one-third to half the size of the parent rosette.

Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:
- $20 fee applies to WA orders.
- $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders.
This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping cost at checkout. It covers the mandatory biosecurity treatments (ICA-29, PS-27, ICA-62) required for interstate compliance.
