Neoregelia Tiny Tot ‘Red Spotted’ Mini Hybrid Bromeliad
check_circle In Stock
Neoregelia ‘Tiny Tot’ ‘Red Spotted’ is a charming miniature hybrid bromeliad selected for its compact growth habit and heavily spotted foliage. Descended from Brazilian Neoregelia species that naturally grow as epiphytes in rainforest canopies, this cultivar combines excellent colour with an easy-care nature, making it ideal for collectors and those with limited growing space.
This listing is for a bare-rooted pup (offset). Bromeliads naturally multiply by producing pups (offsets) around the base of the parent plant. These pups are removed once they are large enough to establish independently and are supplied bare rooted for safe transport. With the same care as a mature plant, they will quickly establish, grow into a full-sized specimen, flower once, and then begin producing pups of their own.
'Red Spotted' forms a neat, upright rosette with attractive green foliage heavily marked with rich burgundy to deep red spotting. The markings become increasingly vibrant under bright, filtered light, creating an eye-catching display despite its compact size. Like all Neoregelia, each rosette flowers only once before naturally producing offsets, gradually forming an attractive clump over time.
This compact hybrid is perfectly suited to terrariums, bromeliad displays, mounted arrangements, shallow bowls and tropical plant collections. It also performs exceptionally well mounted onto cork or timber, allowing it to grow much as it would naturally in the wild.
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, filtered light. Increased light encourages stronger red spotting and compact growth.
- Water: Keep the central cup filled with fresh water and flush regularly. Keep the growing media lightly moist but never waterlogged.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions.
- Media: Plant into a coarse, free-draining bromeliad mix or mount onto cork, timber or tree fern fibre.
- Fertiliser: Apply a very dilute liquid fertiliser during active growth, either into the central cup or around the root zone.
- Temperature: Best grown between 15–28 °C. Protect from frost.
- Growth: Each rosette flowers only once before naturally producing pups, allowing the plant to continually renew itself.
- Repotting: Offsets can be separated once they reach around one-third to one-half the size of the parent plant, or left attached to develop into a dense multi-rosette clump.
