Neoregelia Tiny Tot ‘Green Red Spotted’ Mini Hybrid Bromeliad
check_circle In Stock
Neoregelia ‘Tiny Tot’ is a miniature hybrid within the bromeliad family, bred to retain the rosette form and resilience of larger Neoregelia in a compact size. Its ancestry traces back to Brazilian species that naturally grow as epiphytes in rainforest canopies, drawing water and nutrients from rain and organic debris. This smaller cultivar is well suited to terrariums, bromeliad trees, and other displays where space is at a premium.
The plant forms a tight rosette of upright leaves with natural spotting that intensifies under higher light. As with all Neoregelia, each rosette blooms once before producing offsets, ensuring a continual cycle of growth. While its water-holding cup is smaller than that of full-sized varieties, it still benefits from being kept topped up with fresh water and flushed regularly to avoid stagnation.
‘Tiny Tot’ is adaptable in cultivation, growing equally well potted in a free-draining mix or mounted on driftwood with sphagnum moss. Its small size allows it to be combined with other miniature bromeliads for striking group plantings. Quick to produce pups and tolerant of a range of indoor conditions, it remains a dependable choice for both beginner and experienced bromeliad growers.
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, filtered light; stronger light brings out more intense spotting.
- Water: Keep the central cup filled with fresh water; flush regularly.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but will tolerate typical indoor conditions.
- Media: Use a free-draining bromeliad mix or mount with sphagnum moss.
- Fertiliser: Apply very dilute liquid fertiliser into the cup or to the roots during active growth.
- Temperature: Best between 15–28 °C; protect from frost.
- Repotting: Remove and pot offsets once they reach one-third to half the size of the parent rosette.
