Oxalis flava 'Pink Form'
100mm potted
Oxalis plants belong to a diverse and extensive family, encompassing numerous appealing specimens. Among them, the Flava species stands out as a hardy and easily cultivated plant suitable for cooler climates. These plants exhibit a prostrate growth habit, spreading up to 15cm in width. During the winter to early spring period, they produce abundant 4cm yellow blooms, entering a dormant phase in the summer. Oxalis species from South Africa are winter growers and enter dormancy during the peak of summer, forming underground bulblets.
For outdoor cultivation, it is recommended to position Oxalis plants in gardens or pots where they can receive full sun to partial shade. However, when grown indoors, they are unlikely to flower.
When Oxalis plants are actively growing, regular watering is essential. During their dormant phase, they are less dependent on watering, although providing regular water will not harm the bulbs.
To support their growth, any type of fertilizer can be applied monthly during the growing period.
For optimal care, repotting should be carried out in early autumn before the bulbs initiate their growth for the upcoming winter season.
