Pachypodium rosulatum
Rosulatum is a variable compact species from Madagascar forming a thick bulbous base as it matures. Plants will defoliate in winter and flower on the new growth in spring.
Position - full sun or partial shade. Best in pots under cover to control watering. Horombense will not do well indoors except in strong direct sunlight.
Watering - can be watered over the summer months, with only minimal watering over winter. Plants should be allowed to dry between waterings and will last long periods without water.
Feeding - 25% of recommended dosage monthly in growing period. The less fertiliser, the better the shape of the plant. Fertilisers high in nitrogen can produce larger plants with less colour.
Repotting - can be left to overgrow their pots or repotted in the warmer months in almost any well drained potting mix.
Caution - harmful if eaten. Skin & eye irritant.
Handle with care due to sharp spines.
