Pachyphytum 'Rice Balls'
check_circle In Stock
Pachyphytum 'Rice Balls' is a compact succulent hybrid valued for its plump, rounded leaves that resemble grains of rice. The foliage is pale green to bluish-white, often covered with a powdery farina that protects it from intense sunlight. In brighter conditions, the leaves may develop pinkish or lavender tones, particularly near the tips.
Leaves are arranged in tight rosettes atop short stems, and the plant maintains a low, clustering habit over time. The farina can be easily rubbed off, so handling should be minimal to preserve its appearance. In suitable conditions, it produces arching flower stalks with small, bell-shaped blooms in shades of pink to orange.
Like other Pachyphytum, this hybrid thrives in sunny, dry conditions with well-drained soil and minimal humidity. Its compact form makes it suitable for container gardens, windowsills, or mixed succulent arrangements.
Care Tips:
- Light: Full sun to bright light; some direct sun helps maintain compact growth and colour.
- Water: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.
- Humidity: Prefers low humidity.
- Media: Use a free-draining succulent or cactus mix.
- Fertiliser: Feed lightly during the growing season with a diluted succulent fertiliser.
- Temperature: Best kept between 18–27 °C; protect from frost.
- Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years or when the plant outgrows its container.
