Peperomia dolabriformis 'Ecuador'
check_circle In Stock
Peperomia dolabriformis 'Ecuador' is a compact plant grown for its unusual, folded foliage. The species is native to the mountainous regions of Ecuador and Peru, where it grows in well-drained soils or on rocky slopes in bright but filtered light, receiving moisture from mist and seasonal rains.
The leaves are thick and fused along most of their length, forming a canoe-like shape with a translucent upper surface that allows light to reach the inner tissues. Foliage is bright green and arranged along upright, branching stems, creating a small, shrubby form well suited to indoor growing.
Flowering produces slender spikes lined with tiny pale flowers, though it is mainly valued for its leaf shape and compact growth. It adapts well to container culture and makes a distinctive feature plant for bright windowsills or small indoor gardens.
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, indirect light; tolerates some gentle direct sun.
- Water: Allow the top layer of the mix to dry between waterings; avoid prolonged dryness.

- Media: Use a free-draining succulent or cactus mix with added organic matter.
- Fertiliser: Feed every 4-6 weeks in the growing season with a diluted balanced fertiliser.
- Temperature: Maintain between 18-27 °C; protect from temperatures below 15 °C.
- Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes rootbound.
