Peperomia 'Hope' is a cultivated hybrid between Peperomia deppeana and Peperomia quadrifolia. It combines the trailing habit of its parents with thick, round leaves that are soft green and faintly marked with lighter veins. The succulent-like foliage stores moisture, allowing the plant to tolerate short dry periods.
Stems are slender and trailing, making the plant well suited to hanging baskets, shallow bowls, or as a cascading element in mixed displays. The leaves grow in close pairs or small whorls along the stems, creating a neat, patterned appearance.
Flowering produces slender, upright spikes typical of the genus, though the plant is mainly grown for its foliage. Its moderate growth rate and easy-care nature make it a popular choice for indoor collections.
Care Tips:
Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid prolonged direct sun which may cause leaf scorch.
Water: Allow the top layer of soil to dry between waterings; reduce watering in cooler months.
Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity but adapts to average household conditions.
Media: Use a free-draining mix with peat, perlite, and fine bark.
Fertiliser: Feed every 4-6 weeks during active growth with a diluted balanced fertiliser.
Temperature: Maintain between 18-27 °C; protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15 °C.
Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes rootbound.
