Philodendron 'Ring of Fire' – Original Clone with Exceptional Colouration (WA Prohibited)
release_alert Low Stock - 1 available
Philodendron 'Ring of Fire' is a hybrid prized for its jagged-edged foliage, deeply variegated with fiery oranges, creams, and lime greens. This specimen descends directly from the original clone imported into Australia, and it is notably superior in both colour saturation and contrast when compared to the more commonly circulated tissue-cultured offspring.
Distinctive Features
- Superior Colouration: Displays a broader palette and deeper tones than mass-market clones, with a dynamic mix of warm hues.
- Unique Leaf Margins: The dramatically serrated edges give the plant a bold, sculptural appeal.
- Slow-Climbing Habit: A compact vining growth form suited to moss poles or open displays.
Care Tips
- Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun which can scorch the variegated sections.
- Water: Allow the top few centimetres of potting mix to dry out between waterings; reduce in winter.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity for optimal leaf development and colour intensity.
- Media: Use a chunky, well-draining mix rich in organic matter and airy components like perlite or bark.
- Temperature: Maintain between 18–28°C; protect from cold drafts and avoid exposure below 10°C.
- Fertiliser: Fortnightly feeding during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser encourages vigorous growth.
- Repotting: Every 2–3 years or when visibly root-bound; select a slightly larger pot with ample drainage.
Additional Notes
- This original clone tends to maintain stronger variegation across multiple seasons and exhibits slower reversion.
- Prohibited entry into Western Australia due to current biosecurity restrictions.
