Distinctive Features
- Growth Habit: This monopodial orchid, meaning it grows upward from a single stem, has a compact growth habit, making it ideal for those with limited space. Its leaves are thick and leathery, providing a lush backdrop for the vibrant flowers.
- Flowers: Renanthera monachica is renowned for its clusters of bright red flowers, which can measure up to 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter. The petals and sepals are often spotted with darker red markings, adding depth and complexity to the blooms. The lip is typically smaller and less showy, providing a subtle contrast to the flamboyant petals.
- Fragrance: While some Renanthera species are known for their fragrance, Renanthera monachica has no discernible scent.
Care Tips
- Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
- Water: Water regularly, keeping the potting media moist but not soggy. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during the winter months.

WA, NT & TAS Orders
- Cut-off: Orders to WA, NT and TAS must be placed by Friday 7am (AEST) to be included in the following week’s dispatch.
- Treatment & Delay: These orders require biosecurity treatment and certification, which is completed each Friday. Please allow an additional 1–2 weeks for processing.
Plant Health Certification (PHAC) Fees
- $20 fee applies to WA orders.
- $10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders.
- This fee is per order (not per plant) and is included in your shipping cost at checkout.
