check_circle In Stock
Scindapsus pictus 'Black Mamba' is a cultivar of Scindapsus pictus, a climbing or trailing aroid species native to Southeast Asia, where it grows in lowland tropical forests as a shingling juvenile and then as a climber. This cultivar is distinguished by its deep green to nearly black, matte-finished leaves, which are devoid of the silver variegation found in the typical form. The foliage is velvety in texture and ovate in shape, with slightly undulating margins and a subtle sheen under bright light. It is grown primarily for its dark, uniform foliage and compact growth habit.
Care Tips:
- Light – Prefers bright, indirect light; too much direct sun may cause leaf scorch
- Water – Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry; do not allow to remain waterlogged
- Humidity – Thrives in moderate to high humidity; growth may slow in very dry air
- Media – Use a well-aerated aroid mix containing bark, perlite, and coco coir or peat
- Temperature – Ideal range is 18–28°C; avoid temperatures below 12°C
- Fertiliser – Feed monthly during active growth with a balanced liquid fertiliser
- Repotting – Repot every 1–2 years or when roots begin to outgrow the container
Additional Notes:
- Known to be toxic
