Sinningia tubiflora

Sinningia tubiflora is a tuberous perennial native to Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, typically found in open, rocky grasslands. It develops from an underground tuber, producing upright stems with paired, grey-green, velvety leaves.
During summer, it produces elongated tubular white flowers in clusters, each up to 10 cm long and often carrying a sweet fragrance that attracts nocturnal moths. The floral tubes are adapted for pollination by long-tongued insects, and the plant enters a dormant period in cooler months, with foliage dying back to the tuber.
Care Tips:
- Light: Enjoys bright, indirect light or gentle morning sun.
- Water: Water regularly during active growth, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings; keep dry during dormancy.
- Media: Prefers a free-draining mix suitable for tuberous plants.
- Temperature: Requires warmth in the growing season; protect from frost.
- Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced fertiliser every 2–3 weeks during active growth.
- Repotting: Repot in spring as new growth emerges, placing the tuber just below the soil surface.
