Stanhopea Hybrid – Large Established Plant
check_circle In Stock
A large, established Stanhopea hybrid with mature pseudobulbs and long, strongly pleated foliage. The original parentage of these plants has been lost, so they are offered simply as an unknown Stanhopea hybrid.
These are substantial plants growing in 130 mm pots. Flower colour and form are unknown and will only be confirmed when each plant flowers.
Growing Stanhopea
Stanhopea are unusual orchids because their flower spikes normally grow downward through the potting media. Once established, they are best grown in an open basket or suitably constructed orchid pot that allows the flower spikes to emerge freely from below.
Care
- Light: Bright filtered light or gentle morning sun. Avoid harsh midday and afternoon sun.
- Water: Water thoroughly during active growth and allow excess water to drain freely. Reduce watering somewhat during cooler periods, but do not keep the plant completely dry for extended periods.
- Media: Use an open, free-draining orchid mix. When repotting, an open basket is recommended to accommodate the naturally downward-growing flower spikes.
- Temperature: Intermediate to warm conditions are suitable. Protect from frost and prolonged cold.
- Humidity: Moderate to high humidity with good air movement.
- Feeding: Feed regularly at a dilute rate during active growth.

Please Note
The photographs are representative of the plants available. Plant size, number of pseudobulbs and foliage will vary between individual plants.
These are mature plants and the older foliage may have cosmetic marks, spotting, browned tips or minor damage. This is normal for established Stanhopea plants and does not affect their ability to grow or flower.
The long leaves can also sustain some minor bending or cosmetic damage during transport.
