Syngonium podophyllum 'Maria'
check_circle In Stock
Syngonium 'Maria' is a cultivated variety derived from Syngonium podophyllum, a species native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. This cultivar is recognised for its bronze to copper-toned foliage, often with subtle green shading along the margins and midrib. Leaf colour can shift with light intensity and maturity, while the plant generally retains its arrow-shaped juvenile leaves in indoor settings. In natural climbing growth, the species can develop more deeply lobed foliage.
Care Tips:
- Light: Bright, indirect light enhances the depth of colour; avoid excessive direct sunlight.
- Water: Water when the upper soil layer has begun to dry; ensure adequate drainage.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity; mist occasionally in dry conditions.
- Media: Grow in a well-draining potting mix with organic matter.
- Temperature: Maintain between 18-27°C; avoid cold draughts.
- Fertiliser: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.
- Repotting: Repot every 1-2 years or when roots begin to crowd the container.
Additional Notes:
- Known to be toxic
