Syngonium podophyllum 'Red Heart' is a cultivar of the widespread Central and South American climbing aroid Syngonium podophyllum. It is characterised by arrowhead-shaped leaves with a soft green margin surrounding a warm pink to rose-toned central flush, often most intense in the newest foliage. The colour may fade slightly as leaves mature, giving the plant a dynamic appearance over time. Like the species, it begins with compact juvenile leaves but will develop more lobed forms if allowed to climb with the support of a pole or trellis. In the wild, the species grows in the shaded understory of humid tropical forests, using aerial roots to attach to trees.
Care Tips:
Light - Best in bright, indirect light to enhance pink colouration; avoid strong direct sun which can cause scorch.
Water - Keep the soil evenly moist during growth, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings.
Humidity - Benefits from moderate to high humidity; mist or use a humidifier in dry indoor conditions.
Media - Use a well-draining aroid mix with bark, perlite, and organic matter.
Temperature - Ideal range is 16-28 °C; protect from cold drafts and frost.
Fertiliser - Feed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
Repotting - Repot every 1-2 years or when roots fill the pot; provide a support if vertical growth is desired.

Plant Health Certification (PHC) Fees:
$20 fee applies to WA orders.
$10 fee applies to NT and TAS orders.
