'The Pink Quill'
Cyanea is a form of bromeliad that grows well either mounted or in potting mix. They are excellent for terrariums or as an indoor plant and will also do very well in pots. Cyanea are slow growing and will not require much maintenance, once mature plants can produce a stunning pink inflorescense that produces 5cm blue flowers over a few weeks.
Water only as required it kept in pots, sparingly in terrariums. Potting mix must be allowed to almost dry between waterings. Keep in some direct sunlight or provide artificial light. Fertiliser is not required. Temperatures above 20c will speed up growth, between 10 and 20c growth will be not be obvious. Cyanea will only do well outdoors in warmer climates. Cyanea is hardy but will not do well in extended cold periods. Keep on the drier side in winter.
