Titanopsis primosii (syn. schwantesii)
cancel Sold out
Titanopsis primosii is a compact succulent species endemic to the arid regions of southern Namibia. It typically grows in shallow quartzite or limestone soils, often embedded among rocky debris where its textured leaf surfaces provide effective camouflage. The leaves are thick, fleshy, and warty, helping reduce water loss and blend into the surrounding stones. This species usually produces yellow daisy-like flowers during the cooler months.
Distinctive features:
- Leaves densely covered with grey-white, warty tubercles
- Growth habit forms tight rosettes under 5 cm in diameter
- Yellow flowers emerge in late autumn or winter
- Natural camouflage among quartz gravel and limestone fragments
- Slow-growing and adapted to shallow, rocky substrates
Care Tips:
- Light: Requires bright light with several hours of direct sun
- Water: Allow soil to dry completely between waterings; reduce watering during winter dormancy
- Humidity: Prefers low humidity environments
- Media: Use a gritty, fast-draining mix with mineral content
- Temperature: Tolerates temperatures down to 5 °C; protect from frost
- Fertiliser: Minimal feeding; a diluted cactus fertiliser during the growing season is sufficient
- Repotting: Infrequent; only when the plant outgrows its container or media degrades
