check_circle In Stock
Vanda (Similans × Blitz) 'Pink' is a striking orchid hybrid valued for its large, glossy pink blooms held on upright stems. This mericlone hybrid combines the robust floral traits of Vanda 'Similans' and Vanda 'Blitz', producing 5 to 8 flowers per inflorescence when grown in optimal light and warmth.
Distinctive Features
- Floral display: Produces bold, rounded pink blooms heavily mottled with paler speckling, each flower spanning approximately 8–10 cm.
- Growth habit: Compact monopodial growth with upright, sturdy inflorescences bearing multiple blooms simultaneously.
- Foliage: Thick, strap-like leaves arranged in a fan shape typical of classic Vanda hybrids.
Care Tips
- Light: Bright filtered light to partial sun. Indoors, a well-lit windowsill or under grow lights is ideal.
- Water: Water frequently in warm weather (2–3 times per week) and reduce in cooler months, allowing roots to dry slightly between waterings.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (50–80%) with good airflow to avoid fungal issues.
- Media: Grows best mounted or in baskets with coarse bark or charcoal to support aerial roots.
- Temperature: Thrives in 18–30 °C; protect from frost and prolonged cold snaps.
- Fertiliser: Feed weekly during the active growing season with a balanced orchid fertiliser (dilute to half strength).
- Repotting: Rarely required unless changing mount or basket – avoid root disturbance when possible.
Additional Notes
- Excellent choice for subtropical gardens under cover or indoor orchid collections in bright, humid spaces.
