Vanda Yellow Spot

Vanda Yellow Spot is a cultivated mericlone hybrid selected for its luminous yellow blooms dotted densely with red-purple speckles. This robust hybrid thrives in bright, airy positions and is ideal for subtropical gardens or indoor growing areas with high light and humidity. Each flower stem carries 5 to 8 broad, rounded blooms with a golden-yellow base heavily spotted in burgundy to crimson tones.

Care Tips

• Light: Prefers bright filtered light to partial sun; protect from intense midday rays, especially indoors.
• Water: Water thoroughly when the roots are nearly dry; reduce slightly during cooler periods but avoid complete dryness.
• Humidity: High humidity (50–80%) promotes lush growth and flowering; mist regularly or use a humidity tray if indoors.
• Media: Best grown in coarse orchid bark, mounted, or in hanging baskets with excellent air movement around roots.
• Temperature: Thrives in warm subtropical conditions, ideally between 18–30 °C; protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10 °C.
• Fertiliser: Feed fortnightly with a balanced orchid fertiliser during active growth; switch to a bloom booster when spikes are forming.
• Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years or when the medium breaks down; avoid disturbing the roots more than necessary.
