Dionaea muscipula 'Shell Tooth' - Venus Fly Trap (Rare Clone)

Dionaea muscipula ‘Shell Tooth’ is an uncommon collector’s Venus Flytrap clone recognised for its rounded, shell-like trap margins and greatly reduced marginal teeth. It is supplied as an established plant in a 70 mm pot.

Unlike a typical Venus Flytrap with long marginal cilia, ‘Shell Tooth’ produces traps with smooth-looking, rounded edges. Its unusual trap form gives the plant a compact, sculptural appearance.

Care

• Light: Full sun to very bright light. Strong light encourages compact growth and good trap development.
• Water: Use rainwater, distilled water or reverse osmosis water only. Keep the pot sitting in shallow water during active growth.
• Growing medium: Nutrient-poor carnivorous plant mix, such as sphagnum peat with perlite or silica sand.
• Feeding: Do not use fertiliser or repeatedly trigger the traps. Plants grown outdoors will catch their own insects.
• Dormancy: An annual winter dormancy is required. Growth will slow, leaves will become shorter and some older traps may blacken and die back. This is normal.
