Tillandsia capitata 'Yellow' is a cultivated form of the species Tillandsia capitata, known for its soft, velvety leaves and warm, blushing tones during bloom. Native to Mexico, Cuba, and Central America, the species grows in semi-arid forests and rocky outcrops, where it receives high light and regular air circulation. This 'Yellow' cultivar develops a gentle yellow to golden hue across its foliage when in bloom, creating a radiant contrast with its violet flowers. Its soft trichome-covered leaves and graceful rosette shape make it an appealing choice for display in both bright indoor and outdoor environments.
Distinctive features:
- Foliage blushes yellow to gold during bloom phase
- Produces violet tubular flowers from the centre of the rosette
- Leaves are soft, broad, and densely covered in fine trichomes
- Forms an open, sculptural rosette typically 12–18 cm across
- Colouration intensifies in strong, indirect light
