Tillandsia caulescens is a stem-forming species native to Bolivia and Peru, typically found on trees and rocks in moist montane forests at elevations ranging from 1,000 to 2,500 metres. This species is noted for its elongated, trailing or arching growth, with soft, grey-green leaves arranged along a distinct stem. It produces branched inflorescence with rosy to coral-pink bracts and tubular violet flowers. The name 'caulescens' refers to its caulescent (stem-growing) habit, which sets it apart from most rosette-forming Tillandsias.
Distinctive features:
- Produces a visible stem with leaves arranged along its length
- Branched inflorescence with pink bracts and violet tubular flowers
- Leaves are soft, recurved, and silvery due to fine trichomes

- Humidity: High humidity (60–80%) with constant airflow is preferred
- Media: Best mounted on bark, cork, or driftwood to support trailing habit
- Temperature: Ideal range is 14–26°C; sensitive to frost and overheating
- Fertiliser: Use diluted tillandsia fertiliser monthly during active growth
