Tillandsia 'Cotton Candy' is a popular hybrid between Tillandsia stricta and Tillandsia recurvifolia, combining the appealing traits of both parents. It was originally registered by Paul T. Isley III and is widely cultivated for its showy, long-lasting inflorescence and manageable size. The plant forms a soft, silvery rosette with gently arching leaves and produces a cluster of bright pink bracts, from which delicate violet flowers emerge. It thrives in bright, well-ventilated conditions and is suited to both indoor and outdoor displays.
Care Tips:
- Light: Prefers bright, filtered light; can tolerate brief morning sun
- Water: Mist 3–4 times a week or soak briefly once weekly; dry thoroughly
- Humidity: Performs best with moderate humidity and ample air movement
- Media: Mount on bark, cork, or driftwood; no soil necessary
- Temperature: Ideal range is 15–28°C; protect from temperatures below 5°C
- Fertiliser: Feed with diluted bromeliad fertiliser every 3–4 weeks in warmer months
