Tillandsia schiedeana

Tillandsia schiedeana is a widely distributed species of air plant occurring from Mexico to northern South America, often found on trees or rocks in dry forests, semi-arid regions, and even coastal scrublands. It thrives at a range of elevations, from near sea level to over 2,000 metres. This species is noted for its adaptability and ease of cultivation. Its narrow, silvery-green leaves form a loose rosette and it produces small, tubular yellow flowers, which are sometimes tinged with red. It is named after the German botanist Christian Julius Wilhelm Schiede.

• Light: Prefers bright indirect light to partial sun; avoid prolonged deep shade
• Water: Mist 2–3 times per week or soak briefly; ensure it dries fully
• Humidity: Tolerates a broad humidity range, but benefits from good ventilation
• Media: Best mounted on bark, driftwood, or stone without soil
• Temperature: Thrives between 10–30°C; can tolerate brief dips below 10°C
